How Sweet It Is

Dear Rollingwood Families,

February is a month filled with excitement and opportunities for growth here at Rollingwood Academy! Our classrooms are buzzing with creativity, curiosity, and the joy of learning as we dive into new themes and activities. This month, we’re excited to celebrate the 100th Day of School—a milestone that highlights just how much our students have grown and accomplished so far. We’ll also be spreading kindness and love with fun Valentine’s Day activities, and we look forward to connecting with our wonderful families through upcoming events. February promises to be a memorable time as we continue nurturing the strong sense of community that makes Rollingwood so special.

100th Day of School

We’re thrilled to celebrate the 100th Day of School on February 11th! This special day is a fun way to recognize all the learning, growth, and accomplishments our students have achieved so far this year. Each class will mark the occasion with exciting activities that highlight the number 100, encouraging creativity, counting skills, and a sense of pride in how far they’ve come. Stay tuned for more details from your child’s teacher about how their class will be celebrating—you won’t want to miss it!

Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day at Rollingwood is a day where we spread our love and appreciation for friendship! Each class will exchange valentines on February 14th. Please send in valentines for each student in your child’s class, and we’ll take care of the rest. The teachers have requested that you not “address” the valentines–just sign them with your child’s name. (This way the children can easily pass them out.) Remember, some classrooms are nut free. Any food items should be unopened in store bought packaging.

  • Children that do not attend school on this day will pass out and receive their valentines on Tuesday, February 18th.

In-House Field Trip, February 20th

We’re excited to announce that the Virginia Aquarium will be visiting Rollingwood Academy this month for a special Live Animal Encounter! This hands-on experience will give our students the unique opportunity to learn about local wildlife up close, fostering curiosity and a deeper understanding of the natural world. The aquarium’s educators will introduce a variety of animals, sharing fun facts and engaging the children in discussions about their habitats, behaviors, and conservation. It’s sure to be an unforgettable learning adventure that brings science to life right in our classrooms!

Good Touch/ Bad Touch

This month, our 3-year-old classes and up will be participating in Ms. Susan's "Good Touch, Bad Touch" lessons. This important program is designed to teach children about personal boundaries, body safety, and how to recognize and respond to inappropriate behavior in an age-appropriate and sensitive manner. A letter explaining the program, along with a permission slip, will be sent home this week with more details. Please review the information and return the signed permission slip by the requested date. If you have any questions about the program, feel free to reach out—we’re here to support you and your child through this important learning experience.

Inclement Weather Policy

As a reminder, be sure to check our website www.rollingwoodacademy.com, Instagram, and Class Dojo for any school closings or delays.  You will also get an email as soon as a decision is made.  We typically follow the public school’s closings initially, however we will always aim to open if possible. We try our best to keep children, parents, and our staff safe!
