Springing into March
Welcome to the March 2025 Edition of the Rollingwood Academy Newsletter!
As we wave goodbye to winter and heartily welcome the vibrant spirit of spring, we’re excited to share an engaging lineup of activities and events planned for our students this month! Kicking off March with bright enthusiasm, we celebrated Read Across America Day on Friday, March 7th! This beloved event sparks a love for reading and strengthens our community as we dive into enchanting stories and embark on enjoyable literary journeys together.
With the arrival of spring, we anticipate spending more time outdoors, soaking in the sun and fresh air. March brings warmth, budding flowers, and an ideal setting for exploration and learning. We can’t wait to enrich our curriculum with a variety of outdoor activities, encouraging our students to learn and thrive in nature. Get ready for a month filled with joy, discovery, and memorable moments at Rollingwood Academy!
Important Reminder: Please note that Rollingwood Academy will be closed on March 21st for Staff Development Day.
Celebrate National Reading Month this March
March is dedicated to National Reading Month in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday—a perfect time to inspire readers of all ages to embrace reading every day!
Tips for Raising Readers: What Parents Can Do
- Read Together Regularly: Incorporate reading into your daily routine—share the morning news, enjoy a story after dinner, or snuggle up with a book at bedtime.
- Engage in Conversations: Stimulating discussions enrich vocabulary and enhance language skills while expanding knowledge of the world.
- Be a Reading Role Model: Children are inspired by adults. Let your kids see you enjoying books and discussing stories.
- Highlight Printed Words: Identify and discuss words in everyday life—whether it’s road signs, recipes, or menus.
- Create a Book-Friendly Home: Invest in books from various sources and establish a dedicated space for your child’s reading materials.
- Celebrate Reading Achievements: Acknowledge and praise your child’s efforts as they explore reading.
- Keep Books Accessible: Have books on hand during travels or waiting times to encourage reading on the go.
- Initiate Reading Traditions: Beyond bedtime stories, consider starting family reading nights or sharing favorite books during special occasions.
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” - Dr. Seuss
